We believe that character is fate.
And so if we want to enjoy a good fate, then we must work hard to instill the very best character in ourselves.
The Importance of Integrity
Integrity is incredibly important. The greatest test of integrity is what we do when no one is looking. How do we behave? How do we perform behind the scenes? How do we think? This last one is interesting. What are we thinking of doing? A great litmus test for what anyone is thinking of doing comes from this quote by Warren Buffett:
“We want everyone who works with us to ask themselves whether they are willing to have any contemplated act appear the next day on the front page of their local paper to be read by their spouses, children, and friends with the reporting done by an informed and critical reporter.”
Integrity and honesty is the very foundation of good character. Integrity and honesty is what leads to a good fate, and a good fate is what we are steadfastly aiming for.
Below is an interview here in Houston with one of our heroes, Archie Dunham, the former CEO of Conoco Phillips. … Feel free to skip the first 9 minutes to get right to the interview itself. It’s awesome.
